In any system, same requirement can be addressed in multiple ways. As an implementer  we should look for the ‘smart way’ of doing things. Here is one of my recent experiences…
Recently I had a requirement to upload historical data for learning objects – offerings, classes and enrollments  As always with business urgency, we were short of time to write scripts using APIs for the upload.  In a quest for searching quick way to upload these details from excel sheet, I found an interesting workaround. Answer lied in using ‘Configuration Workbench’. Till now, I had never used this feature with impression that it is of not much use. I may be wrong!!
In ‘HRMS Configuration Workbench’, there is an option called Spreadsheet Loader Configuration. This option provides capability to upload employee details as well as course, classes, offerings and enrollments  These are Web ADI Integrators but cannot be used in standalone mode.
Below are the steps

• Using ‘HRMS Configuration Workbench’ responsibility, navigate to ‘Spreadsheet Loader Configuration’ task
• Go to task for ‘Function, Data and Layout Configurator’ and create new functions for offerings, classes and enrollments

• Once the function is created, click on ‘Test’ icon to download the spreadsheet and upload details (data can also be uploaded through the function that gets displayed in menu for the same responsibility).
